The Denver Broncos have upset the Pittsburgh Steelers with a long pass in overtime to win the game. The Broncos have won the first playoff game to be played under the new playoff overtimes rules. Tim Tebow hit Demaryus Thomas on a 80 yard touchdown pass to knock the Pittsburgh Steelers out of the playoffs.
The Steelers and Broncos playoff game may not have been as close if not for all the injured Steelers. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger could barely walk with an injured ankle, Rashard Mendenhall is out for the season, Casey Hampton was injured early and safety Ryan Clark missed the game due to a medical condition. The Steelers also missed their center Pouncey who was out with an ankle injury.
Tim Tebow started very well in the first half and the Denver Broncos held the Steelers in check. But then in the 2nd half the Steelers slowly started playing better while Tim Tebow seemed to lose the edge he had in the first half.
Tim Tebow played very well early hitting some long passes and scoring a rushing touchdown. Tebow quieted those who wanted him to be benched for backup Brady Quinn. It just seemed that Tebow lost a little something until the overtime pass won the game.
The problem the Broncos had against the Steelers was playing such a veteran team. The Pittsburgh Steelers didn’t get rattled and took advantage of their opportunities to win the battle of field position. The Steelers managed to tie the game up and send it into overtime. And this was the first sudden death overtime game in NFL playoff history under the new overtime rules.
Tim Tebow had been under lots of criticism for his lackluster play towards the end of the regular season. However Tim Tebow used some of his magic to step up in the biggest game of his NFL career.
In the upset of the Pittsburgh Steelers Tim Tebow completed 10 of 21 passes for 316 yards, two touchdowns and no turnovers. Demaryus Thomas caught four passes for 204 yards (pretty nice average) and the 80 yard touchdown. Willis MaGahee had a solid 61 yards rushing but fumbled twice, losing one.
The Broncos defense played well enough to win and really sucked it up at the end of the fourth quarter. Von Miller had a huge sack late and Elvis Dumervil had a nice forced fumble.
The Denver Broncos have shocked the sporting world with their upset of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Please check back tomorrow for my preview of the Broncos traveling to play the New England Patriots in the next round of the AFC Playoffs.

Adam Schefter of ESPN and some of his followers tweeted out some funnies from this game. Tebow's favorite bible verse is John 3:16
-Tebow threw for 316 yards
-or 31.6 yards per completion
- a man named John was leading him
pointless but made me laugh a little
